Work – Life Balance continues…
Today, it is second day on the
row to discuss about work-life balance. Today I want to discuss about gender biasness towards this issue.
As we all know, India is a male
dominating country. In India we have very less working women. Infect the number
has increased in recent years and so are the problems faced by these women at workplace
as well as their homes. In India, most of the working women have to do their
normal duty at homes as well. Very few are exception to the cause. So, it
becomes very important for these women to have a proper balance between
workplace and their homes.
We have seen that in any of the
job or in any type of organizations, employees have to devote their full time, mind
& energy to work for that organization. Now if a women goes back to her
home after working for 8-9 long working hours, how one can expect her to be full
of energy to take care of her home as well with same energy?
Unlike males, who are not likely
to work at home, women are definitely expected to work at home, at least taking
Indian scenario into consideration. Also, she has to manage her workplace as
well.
So this again gives rise to same
problem as imbalanced work-life situation. If she tries to maintain this
balance or tries to maintain equilibrium between the both, she feels much
stressed and then problems like divorce and other consequences appear before
them.
Cases like maternity increases
the risk more towards this. According to Wikipedia, Today there are many young
women who do not want to just stay at home and do house work, but want to have
careers. About 64% of mothers whose youngest child was under age six, and 77%
of mothers with a youngest child age 6-17 were employed in 2010, indicating
that the majority of women with dependent care responsibilities cannot or do
not wish to give up careers. While women are increasingly represented in the
work force, they still face challenges balancing work and home life. Both
domestic and market labor compete for time and energy. “For women, the results
show that that only time spent in female housework chores has a significant
negative effect on wages”.
So what could be the solution or
suggestions to maintain this imbalance, apart from 6 ways suggested yesterday, proper
scheduling of work for females should be done by HR dept of those organizations
in which females are working. HR dept should take care of females working for
their organization with respect to timings and projects and assignments handed
over to females.
Tomorrow, we will discuss last
element of the topic as what is the relation between age and work-life balance.
Till then, Good Night… OPEN UP…!!! And
Stay Happy… :)
Comments and suggestions are welcome… :)
